NORWOOD – A Maine woman living in Norwood has been arrested following an investigation into $2,600 worth of bad checks.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Elizabeth J. Merrill, also known as Bobbie-Jo Merrill, 38, of Maine and living at 1423 Old Market Rd., Norwood and charged her with scheme to defraud in the first degree.
Deputies said she had written checks to several people on a closed checking account from a bank in Bangor, Maine.
Merrill was arraigned before Norfolk Town Justice Donald Lustyik and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 bail bond pending further proceedings in Norfolk court.
