MADRID -- New Beginnings Clothing & Food Outreach, 3605 County Route 14, has completed steps directed by New York State for re-opening the thrift store.

The store will open on July 1. New hours of operation are Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Shoppers will be asked to comply with some guidelines established to protect everyone during the coronavirus pandemic.

Masks and social distancing are mandatory. Dressing rooms are closed. Sanitizer for hands and carts will be provided and there is a limit on the number of shoppers allowed in the store at one time. People will be asked to sign-in with a name and phone number so that notification can be made if a staff member tests positive for the virus.

Clothing and household donations can be dropped off during store hours starting July 15.

New Beginnings Food Pantry has remained open during this pandemic and will continue to supply food to the public without income restrictions. “Food insecurity is a very real problem and due to the generosity of the public, there is no reason for anyone to go hungry,” the pantry said. Call 315-322-4073 to reach the pantry.

“New Beginnings is proud of the tremendous community support and wishes to publicly thank all who have generously donated to this Non-Profit Charity. A special recognition goes to the Madrid Dollar General Store for their repeated donations of fresh and non-perishable food items. Their bountiful and on-going supply continues to fill the pantry shelves during this pandemic,” New Beginnings said in a news release. “Gratitude is extended to the recently created Brotherhood and Sisterhood Fund (a joint venture between the Waddington Masonic Lodge #393 and the Order of Eastern Star, Fulton Chapter #515) for their monetary gift; and to The Northern New York Community Foundation for a generous contribution of $1000.00. A very proud thank you to the Madrid-Waddington Class of 2020 for turning over their proceeds from a recent fund-raising event to the food pantry. Our deepest appreciation to all who donate to New Beginnings Clothing and Food Outreach, Inc. All contributions are tax deductible.”
