OGDENSBURG – The Lockwood Arena has been closed since Jan. 6 and won’t reopen until Monday, according to a memorandum issued by Parks and Recreation Director Matthew Curatolo.
According to the report, the arena compressor has been down since Saturday, Jan. 6 with a blown seal on the main shaft.
“Mollenberg & Ketz, Buffalo, came to the Lockwood Arena Wednesday morning to fix the seal on the compressor. Cost for a new seal is $2,395 and labor and other costs are estimated to be another $3,000,” the memo says.
Curatolo said two bearings on the compressor motor also had to be replaced.
“All activities and rentals have been canceled since Jan. 6 and all rentals have been canceled for the weekend so the rink temperature can get back to its proper level and staff can perform ice maintenance,” he said.
Rentals at this time are expected to resume Monday, Jan. 15, according to Curatolo.
