Local internet service provider New Horizons expands service to Madrid

MADRID -- New Horizons Wireless, a local high speed wireless Internet service provider, has expanded service to the Madrid area as another provider has reportedly abandoned service there.

Service will now be available to Madrid residents whose options in receiving a high speed Internet connection diminished when another provider reportedly ceased service there after they removed their equipment from the community’s municipal water tower last Friday.

Lisbon resident and New Horizons Wireless owner Chad Rice said he has been working with Town of Madrid officials seeking permission to place wireless transmitters on the water tower. Permission was granted earlier this year, and equipment is in place, Rice said.

New Horizons Wireless already has coverage in Norwood, Lisbon, Heuvelton, and soon in Waddington, according to Rice.

New Horizons has the ability to broaden its service areas relatively easily utilizing farm silos and other tall structures to serve many underserved North Country communities.

Rice says he offers the wireless technology for high speed Internet access for an affordable price. Internet connection prices are considerably lower than satellite and any other wireless provider, he says.

New Horizons Wireless offers several different speed packages to suit users’ needs.
