LISBON -- With the 2nd Annual Lights on the River quickly approaching, Lights on the River, Inc. has hopes of helping a total of eight food pantries this year.
Lights on the River will run from Saturday, Dec. 17 to Friday, Dec. 23 from 5 to 9 p.m. each night.
This year’s event will include Santa, carolers, a live nativity, and lots of Christmas cheer.
Those pantries aid people in the Lisbon, Ogdensburg, Waddington, Heuvelton, Hammond, Morristown, and Canton areas.
They are the Lisbon food pantry at the Wesleyan Church, Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center, Waddington Neighborhood Center, Heuvelton food pantries at the Methodist and St. Raphael's churches, Hammond/Morristown food pantry, and the Church and Community program and Neighborhood Center in Canton.
Last year, Lights on the River benefitted the Lisbon food pantry, which received almost $4,700 at the end of the event, plus hundreds of food item donations.
