CANTON — Lisbon resident and history buff Nancy LaFaver is now St. Lawrence County’s historian.
LaFaver said she’s had an interest in local history since her youth, when she would read books in a horse drawn hearse. She said St. Lawrence County’s history is deep and complex and was excited for the opportunity to take the mantle.
LaFaver has been involved in various history focused projects around the county such as Fort de La Presentation and the Lisbon Depot Museum.
LaFaver will work with local historians to help promote local history. She will also work on grant opportunities and efforts to maintain, restore and improve history in the county.
She received praise from St. Lawrence County Legislator Jim Reagen who said she was a knowledgeable and welcome pick for the job.
