CANTON – A Lisbon man was jailed Friday after St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a male attempting to break into a home with people inside.
Robert J. Driscoll, 26, of County Route 28, Lisbon, was charged with criminal trespassing, menacing, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana following the incident. He was sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $750 cash bail after being arraigned in Potsdam Town Court.
When they arrived at 751 NYS Hwy. 310, deputies said they discovered Driscoll arguing and threatening residents of the house.
When they attempted to arrest him, his girlfriend, Mary Davis, 21, of 83 E. Main St., Canton, interfered by grabbing hold of Driscoll and refusing to let go when ordered to, deputies said. Deputies said they had to physically remove Davis from Discroll.
Both Driscoll and Davis continued to resist arrest, deputies said.
Davis was charged with resisting arrest and harassment for striking an officer, deputies said. She was released under the supervision of the St. Lawrence County Probation Department following arraignment in Potsdam Town Court, deputies said.
