LISBON — Lisbon Central School was recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) at the conclusion of the 2019-20 school year.
Lisbon was among three schools throughout New York State to be recognized in the Sportsmanship Promotion Program.
The banner award is presented to schools which have developed proactive approaches in keeping sportsmanship in the forefront with their students, coaches, spectators, and communities. NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Award Program, school officials said. At the end of each sports season, NYSPHSAA honors those teams and individuals that excel in the classroom.
To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition with a certificate, the team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90. NYSPHSAA School of Excellence Award is awarded to a district with 75% of the Varsity teams qualify for and receive the Scholar Athlete Team Award during their respective season. The NYSPHSAA School of Distinction Award is awarded to a district with 100% of the Varsity teams qualifying during the school year.
