LAWRENCE — A local man was charged Monday following investigation of a vehicle-pedestrian accident on Peru Street earlier this year, according to state police.
Troopers said they charged 24-year old Nicholas Hazen with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, felony.
Police said that around 6 a.m. on Feb. 25 a pick-up truck being operated by Hazen was traveling north on Peru Street when he struck a pedestrian, 21-year old Delila D. Swartzentruber of Apple Creek, Ohio. She was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and later flown to Upstate Memorial Hospital in Syracuse. She died the following day from her injuries.
The case is still under investigation.
Hazen was cited and released.
