GOUVERNEUR -- A kitchen stove is listed as the cause of a house lost to fire last night.
County Emergency Services says a house at 104 Battlehill Rd. occupied by Ashley and Joe Lewis was declared a total loss. No one was reported hurt.
Gouvernuer fire and rescue volunteers were called out at 6:32 p.m. Monday. Mutual aid was supplied by Richville, Oxbow and DeKalb departments; Hermon and Edwards departments were on standby.
The Gouverneur department was reported back in service at 8:29 p.m.
