OGDENSBURG -- A local children's cancer helping agency has partnered with a St. Lawrence County hospital's cancer center to get kids more help.
Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center’s Winter Cancer Treatment Center in Ogdensburg will be working with the Jules of Life Foundation to bring more support to families in the county with a child in treatment.
“We understand that having to travel outside the county for pediatric cancer care is a very stressful, confusing and overwhelming process,” said Kay Zimmer, patient navigator and oncology social worker at the cancer center.
Together, the two organizations plan to provide financial support, assistance in finding a facility for treatment, assistance with travel, lodging options near the facility, help coping with the diagnosis, and help with questions and issues as they arise.
The Jules of Life Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help children with pediatric cancer in St. Lawrence County through inspirational events and financial support.
For more information, Zimmer can be reached at 713-6213, and Carmen Gendebien, co-founder of the Jules of Life, at 854-0072.
