DEKALB – The St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team is looking into the cause of a blaze that destroyed a vacant house Saturday.
The Richville and DeKalb fire departments responded at 11:57 p.m. to the property at 30 School St. owned by Marvin and Cynthia Sherman of 11 Gibbons St.
The building was declared a total loss, investigators said.
The Hermon, Rensselaer Falls and Canton fire departments provided mutual aid and the Heuvelton, Pyrites and Gouverneur fire departments were on standby.
The Rensselaer Falls Rescue Squad also arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported.
The rental property was insured, investigators said.
