CANTON — A Gouverneur man incarcerated at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility was charged with three felonies after he broke a correctional officer’s face on March 22.
Nathaniel P. Travis, 33, was charged with assault on a peace officer, a Class C felony, and two counts of second-degree assault, both Class D felonies.
The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said Travis prevented a correctional officer from performing a lawful duty at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility. The officer sustained facial fractures after he was struck in the face by Travis with his fist and knee, the sheriff’s office said.
Travis was arraigned in Canton town court and remanded back to the county jail.
