High pressure centered near the Gulf of St. Lawrence will maintain tranquil weather conditions across the North Country today and tonight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Highs today will be around 65 with sunny skies, forecasters say. An overnight low of 44 is likely.
A decaying frontal system approaching from the Great Lakes will bring a chance for light rain showers Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening, mainly across Northern New York, NWS says.
The next chance for widespread rainfall isn`t expected until next Wednesday, the service says.
Temperatures through the period will be near seasonable norms for mid October, forecasters predict.
The forecast through Thursday is as follows:

A 20 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 64. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph.

A 30 percent chance of showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

Sunny, with a high near 59. South wind around 6 mph.
