CANTON -- The annual "Holiday of Lights" festival on the village green with a visit from Santa Claus will be handled differently this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The committee is working on organizing a home decorating contest with the Canton Chamber of Commerce, and hopes to have Claus tour through the village on a hay wagon with music.
There will be cash prizes for the best decorated house, and another for best decorated outside tree or trees. There will also be a prize for the children's decorations in front yards, said a press release from the committee.
Ideas for other events, and donations, can be sent to P.O. Box 423, Canton 13617.
Canton Village Mayor Michael Dalton is currently searching for a donation of a tall Christmas tree to set up on the village green for the Memorial Tree display, and a second tree for the all-blue lighted Veterans Memorial Tree. Contact the mayor at the village office for more information or to donate: 315-386-2871.
