FORT COVINGTON — A Hogansburg man was arrested after crashing into a state police vehicle during a vehicle pursuit Jan. 2.

Around 7:55 p.m. that day, troopers said they initiated a traffic stop on State Route 37 after officers observed a vehicle driving 46 mph in a 30 mph zone.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued on SR 37 speeding up, officers said.

The driver eventually turned north onto Mary Riley Road and then onto Burns Holden Road, where he crashed his vehicle into a marked state police vehicle, troopers said.

The suspects vehicle became disabled following the crash and the driver was taken into custody.

Police charged 35-year-old Abraham T. Gray of Hogansburg with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a narcotic and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, officers said.

He was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, police said.

He was allegedly found in possession of various pills, a quantity of cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

Gray was virtually arraigned by the Dickinson Town Court and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Fort Covington Town Court at a later date.
