The Heuvelton Historical Association and Ogdensburg Command Performances will each get $5,000 from the Watertown-based Northern New York Community Foundation.

The Heuvelton Historical Association’s award is to help with the restoration of Pickens Hall.

Ogdensburg Command Performances will use their award to help stage two performances of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” in October.

The foundation is also accepting scholarship applications. In St. Lawrence County, they will award one-year freshman scholarships to students in the Canton, Clifton-Fine, Colton-Pierrepont, Edwards-Knox, Gouverneur, Hammond, Harrisville, Hermon-DeKalb, Heuvelton, Lisbon, Morristown, Ogdensburg and Potsdam school districts.

The foundation also awards the Rotary Purple Heart Scholarship, to residents of St. Lawrence and nearby counties who have been awarded the Purple Heart, or to their dependents (spouse or child). Applicants for this scholarship may be in any year of full-time undergraduate study.

Applications can be downloaded from the foundation’s web site, www.nnycf.org. They are also available at high school guidance offices, or by calling 782-7110. Completed applications must be returned by April 2, except Rotary Purple Heart Scholarship applications, which will be accepted throughout the year until all funds available for the academic year are awarded.

The Northern New York Community Foundation, Inc. manages and administers a permanent endowment and funds for the benefit of the community, guided by a board of community leaders.
