Those with a little extra wood this year due to last year’s mild winter might consider donating some extra wood.
The federal HEAP heating assistance program has been cut this year and as a result many North Country families will be struggling to keep warm.
In addition to firewood, Helping Hands is also asking for donations of quilts, blankets and sleeping bags.
Financial contributions can be mailed to Helping Hands, Box 92, Hannawa Falls, NY 13647.
Helping Hands is a Christian human service organization dedicated to helping others in Potsdam and surrounding communities.
