The heat is on...could break records today

Today is shaping up to be the hottest day so far this summer in the North Country as temperatures climb to 90 or higher, but at least there will be a breeze, and it will be turning a little cooler tomorrow and cooler yet by Sunday, according to the National Weather Service forecast..

Southwest winds will run at 15 to 22 miles an hour with some higher gusts as the thermometer will read in the low 90s this afternoon.

There is a slight chance of showers today, mainly in the afternoon and evening.

Tonight, skies will be partly cloudy with lows down to about 67.

It will still be hot tomorrow, but not as bad, as temperatures reach into the mid to upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. It will be breezy, with winds about 10 to 15 mph with some gusts.

Friday night the temperature will drop to about 65.

Saturdays highs are expected to be about 85, with a 20 percent chance of showers, mainly in the afternoon. That night, the chance of rain persists, but skies will clear, with lows around 60.

Sunday, the sun will prevail while high temperatures reach the mid-70s. Sunday night: clear skies, lows around 60.

On Monday, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 82.
