Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County fair opens Tuesday; new additions include monster trucks super-modified tractors

GOUVERNEUR -- Monster trucks and super-modified tractor pulls are new additions to St. Lawrence County Fair's annual events.

Fair food, farm animals, crafters and rides will be available at the fairgrounds from July 31 to until Aug. 5.

Musical entertainment at this year's fair includes Aaron Kelly, the Wolf Radio Texaco showdown and the Firefighter's Parade.

Vegetable and animal judging will also be held at the grand stand. Other events include the return of the demolition derby and the high school band parade.

A complete list of events follows.

Tuesday, July 31

9 a.m. to 8 p.m.- 4-h youth building opens

9 a.m. - all exhibits / animals in place

9 a.m. - 4-H poultry show (sheep barn)

12 p.m. - harness racing begins

1 p.m. - 4-H goat show in sheep build

1 p.m. - vegetable judging (under grandstand)

1 p.m. - 4-H & FFA dairy judging (show ring)

3 p.m. to 4 p.m. - 4-h dairy fitting contest (show ring)

4 p.m. - fair officially opens / rides open

5 p.m. - 4-H dog show (dairy ring)

7 p.m. - Wolf radio Texaco show down, grandstand event, $15 adults, $10 children 10 and under

8 p.m. - Aaron Kelly concert, adults $15,

$10 children 10 and under

Wednesday, August 1

9 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.- 4-h youth building open

9 a.m - 4-H english horse show (horse ring)

9 a.m. - 4-H beef show (show ring)

10 a.m. - 4-H & open sheep show-all breeds (sheep barn)

11 a.m. - Open beef show (show ring)

12 noon - First flower show (under grandstand)

12:30 p.m. - 4-H dairy showmanship (show ring)

1 p.m. - Rides open

1:30 p.m. - High school band parade

2:30 p.m. - Carlton peck awards

5:30 p.m. - Bicycle drawing (must be present to win)

7 p.m. - Fireman's parade - (grandstand)(free)

6:30 p.m. - Local talent show $5 admission

Friday, Aug. 3

9 a.m. to 8 p.m.- Youth building open

9 a.m. - 4-H open Ayrshire, Brown, Swiss and Jersey cattle show (show ring)

9 a.m. - 4-H gymkhana horse show (horse show ring)

12 noon - Second flower show (under grandstand)

1 p.m. - Rides open

5:30 p.m. - Bicycle drawing (must be present to win)

7 p.m. - Super modified tractor pull (grandstand $15 admission /$10 for children 10 and under)

Saturday, August 4

9 a.m. to 8 p.m. - 4-H youth building open

9 a.m. - Black & white show (show ring)

10 a.m. - Draft horse show (horse show ring)

1 p.m. - Rides open

2 p.m. - 4-H cat show (youth building)

5:30 p.m. - Bicycle drawing (must be present to win)

7 p.m. - Monster truck show (grandstand) $15 admission/$10 for children 10 and under

Sunday, August 5

8 a.m.- Church services (show ring)

9 a.m.- Open horse show (horse show ring)

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.- 4-H youth building open

1 p.m.- Rides open

3 p.m.- Release of junior fair animals and exhibits

3 p.m.- Demolition derby (grandstand)$12 admission/$8 admission for children 10 and under
