MASSENA -- The fundraiser to save the canceled St. Lawrence Centre mall fireworks has reached its $10,000 goal.
The event will proceed as it has for more than 20 years.
“We have reached our goal,” fundraiser coordinator Jessica Baxter said June 16. "Now the mall is working on putting together the family fun day venue. That will happen from 2 to 8 p.m. July 3 with the fireworks to follow."
The show had been canceled due to lack of funds, according to Kortney Trippany. She is one of the fundraiser's organizers.
Baxter said more than 20 people and businesses made contributions to the fundraiser.
Baxter and Trippany worked with the Massena Chamber of Commerce to garner $10,000 by June 16.
They will advertise all sponsors and donors at the family fun day and fireworks display.
If they didn’t raise the money on time, there would have been a fireworks show at a different location, Trippany said.
