Frigid cold today will give way to seasonal temps, snowfall tonight and Monday in St. Lawrence County

A winter storm will bring a long duration of snow to the St. Lawrence Valley this afternoon through Monday night.

Light snow will begin this afternoon, then briefly taper off tonight before reinvigorating

Monday morning and lasting through Monday night, NWS says. Snow showers will end Tuesday morning as high pressure builds in.

Expect a high today of 27 with winds of 9 miles per hour, the service says. Snowfall tonight should end by 10 p.m. with an overnight low of 21.

The middle and end of the week will feature several chances for light snow as a series of weaker systems move through from the west, forecasters predict.

The forecast through Saturday in St. Lawrence County is as follows:

Monday

A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly between 8am and 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 29. Northeast wind around 11 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Night

Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 17. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph.

Tuesday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 31. North wind around 6 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday

A chance of snow showers before 2pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday Night

A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 23. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

Thursday

A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. West wind 9 to 11 mph.
