St. Lawrence County is under a freeze warning tonight as temperatures will dip into the lower 30s and possibly upper 20s, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The warning is in effect from 1 until 9 a.m. overnight when sub-freeing temps will be experienced, forecasters say. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold, NWS says. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
The high today will be near 56 with winds 13-15 mph, NWS says.
Highs on Monday will near 60, the service says.
