Fowler second-grader in the running for nationwide Uncle Ben's Cooking Contest

FOWLER – A Fowler Elementary School student is a contender in a national cooking contest for his recipe, Griffin's Turkey and Brown Rice Meatloaf.

Griffin Fenlong, a second-grader, entered and was selected as competitor in the Uncle Ben's Cooking Contest, which could get Griffin $20,000 in cash, an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show, and Fowler School’s cafeteria can get a makeover valued at $50,000.

This is an online contest, with voting for videos from the contestants.

To see the video and vote, you can go to the Fowler School website at gouverneurcentralschool.org/schools/fowler/ and you will see a link to the contest page and voting instructions. Once on the Facebook contest page (you don’t have to have a Facebook page to participate), you can enter Griffin in the search box to get to his video. Then you can watch Griffin and his mom make the recipe, and click on “Vote” to support Griffin and his recipe.

People can vote once per day per computer. Voting is on now and continues through March 11. For every vote, $1 will be donated to Rachael Ray’s web site dedicated to kids and good food, Yum-O.org, up to $35,000.

“Tell your friends and family and let’s help Fowler and Griffin win the contest,” said Fowler School Principal Charity Zawatski.
