FOWLER – Investigators want to know what started a fire that caused heavy damage to a house in Fowler early today.
The family of James and Brandy Kofron arrived and found smoke in the house, at 1454G County Rt. 22. They called emergency services at 1:23 a.m.
Gouverneur fire and rescue volunteers responded first. They were backed up by Edwards, Richville and Harrisville firefighters. Standing by were the Fine department at the Edwards station, and Oxbow and other elements of the Richville department to Gouverneur.
The Gouverneur FD reported they were back in service at 3:07 a.m.
Investigators said there was insurance on the house. No one was hurt.
They also said damage to house was “heavy,” but that they did not yet know the origin of the blaze.
