A former Ogdensburg resident has written a song he hopes the whole world will sing in unison on September 11 in what he calls the world's first Song Flashmob for Peace and A Better World.
Craig Raymo, a singer/songwriter based in Orlando whose professional name is Craymo, has penned and recorded the song One Love One World, and is now trying to get volunteers to organize flashmobs in every city to sing the song at 9 a.m. on the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
"We are going to sing in unison One Love One World and then a rousing chorus of the line "All We Are Saying Is Give Peace A Chance" by John Lennon," Raymo writes on his flashmob Facebook site. "We are going to continue to sing the lines 'All We Are Saying is Give Peace A Chance' and 'We Are One Love We Are One World, put your hands together now every boy and every girl' in a round again and again for as long as our hearts and voices can go."
Groups have so far formed in Canada, Los Angeles and Orlando.
Becky Duprey of Ogdensburg is trying to organize a group who will perform in Morrisette Park that day.
"I would like to see Ogdensburg participate in a worldwide flashmob for peace," she said. "Let's see how many people around the world we can gather together to sing a song in unison for peace."
Those who would like to join the Ogdensburg mob or start up one of their own can download the track and learn more about the event at the Song Mob for Peace Facebook page or by visiting www.craymo.com.
