Forecasters expect break in snow, sleet, rain in North Country ... but not until Saturday

The unseasonal weather in St. Lawrence County, with snow, sleet, rain and freezing rain, has caused cancellations and delays in school openings and difficulties for people trying to get to work today. While that’s not unusual in the North Country, it is for mid-April.

The National Weather Service says it’s hard to find a dry day in the forecast for the North Country until perhaps Saturday. Multiple low pressure systems will bring intermittent rain and snow through the rest of the week. Temperatures are expected to be mainly above freezing, NWS meteorologists say.

Some fairly high winds, with gusts over 20 mph, are predicted for Tuesday.

At this point, by Friday night they expect to see high pressure pushing in and we could see a 24- to 36-hour time period with little chance for precipitation.
