A flood watch is in effect for St. Lawrence County today at 6 p.m. through April 21 at noon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
A slow moving frontal boundary will stall over the region today through Saturday, leading to several rounds of moderate to locally heavy rain, the service said.
This precipitation, combined with melting snow pack, will cause sharp rises on local waterways and lead to an increased threat of flooding, NWS says.
The heaviest rainfall with the greatest threat for flooding will be across Northern New late today into Saturday, forecasters say.
Precipitation will become lighter and more scattered in nature late Saturday through Sunday, NWS says.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
Temps will fall to around 49 by 5 p.m. and winds at 7 miles per hour, forecasters say. The overnight low will be around 44.
