Those who have had a direct exposure but are not exhibiting symptoms, wait 5 to 7 days before receiving a COVID-19 test. This will prevent the likelihood of a false negative result however, quarantine at home while waiting for results. A public health official will notify people of test results 2 to 3 days after being tested.

Those who have symptoms should immediately contact their healthcare provider for testing.
