Five arrested in Moira on drug charges after traffic stop

MOIRA — Five people were arrested a variety of drug charges and one tried to run away from police Friday after state police conducted a traffic stop on NYS Hwy. 11.

Police stopped a 2015 Ford F250 at about 6:30 p.m. and the occupants, Jeffrey S. Jarvis, 39, of Burke, Chad P. Fountain, 39, of Bangor, Brandy L. Fountain,38, Patrick J. Tremblay, 25, of Fort Covington, and Nolan L. Swamp 27, of Hogansburg, were all found in possession of an assortment of narcotics, controlled substances, and paraphernalia, police said.

Fountain fled on foot leading the trooper in a foot pursuit. After apprehending Fountain, he tried to physically resist being taken into custody, police said. He was found in possession of a quantity of cocaine, amphetamines, Suboxone, and other drug paraphernalia.

All five suspects were charged with six counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, and one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (with Intent to Sell) 5th degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree , and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (with Intent to Sell) 3rd degree.

Fountain was also charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, and one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (with Intent to Sell) 5th degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (with Intent to Sell) 3rd degree, and Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree.

All were arraigned in the Bangor Town Court and released on their own recognizance.
