POTSDAM -- Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department is on scene this morning battling a fire at the former Scanlon's Auto Parts, 6 Depot St.
The blaze was reported shortly after 5 a.m., according to Potsdam police.
About 50 firefighters and rescue personnel are on scene with the sheriff's deputies directing traffic.
Firefighters were battling flames on the roof around 6:30 a.m.
The store is part of a building complex that also houses apartments and several other downtown businesses.
Fire officials said they were unsure as to how the fire started.
