MACOMB — A fire in the hamlet of Pope Mills destroyed a home that was recently vacated by a family, according to Morristown Fire Chief Jay Moore.
The fire was reported at 10:55 p.m. Sunday and the structure was fully engulfed in flames upon firefighters arriving on scene, he said.A family reportedly moved out two days prior and the home was empty at the time of the blaze, Moore said.
A passerby called the fire in.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
Brier Hill firefighters assisted on scene.
The 12-by-30-foot mobile home was owned by John Love and was reportedly insured.
The building is considered a total loss.
The cause is under investigation.
“It’s hard to determine the cause when it’s a total loss,” Moore said.
No injuries were reported.
