The National Weather Service is warning St. Lawrence County residents that falling temperatures may create slippery roads as people travel home or away for the Christmas weekend.

Wet untreated roadways may become slippery as the surface temperature falls, causing the potential for icing to increase, weather officials say.

A slight chance of snow is predicted before 8 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Saturday, forecasters are predicting mostly cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 22. Saturday night, expect a low around 11.

On Christmas day, a chance of snow showers is possible, mainly after 7 a.m. Partly sunny skies are predicted, with a high near 36.
