Edwards man facing multiple charges following violent domestic incident

EDWARDS — State police have charged an Edwards man following a physical domestic dispute.

Police say Richard L. Lillie, 43, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, criminal obstruction breathing, criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

According to troopers, Lillie was involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical when he allegedly grabbed a victim’s neck and applied pressure.

Police say Lillie continued to grab the victim by the throat as he was shoving them around, leading the victim to fall to the ground away from Lillie.

The victim then went into the bathroom, with Lillie following, Police say.

Lillie then allegedly took the victim’s phone, causing damage, police say.

Police say Lillie then allegedly placed his hands around the victim’s neck again, slamming the victim into a wall, leading to another altercation.

Once the physical altercation ended the victim left, police say.

Investigation by state police showed there was a refrain from an order of protection in place, which Lillie was violating, police say.

Lillie was arrested and transported to SP Gouverneur for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Fowler Court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
