Dry and unseasonably warm conditions prevail through early next week with temperatures warming near the low 80s for some North Country locations, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Forecasters call for a high near 72 today with sunny skies. Overnight the low will be around 45.

A large scale weather system is expected to traverse the Northeast by weeks end bringing chances for widespread rain

and a sharp cool-down in its wake, NWS says.

The forecast through next Saturday is as follows:

Monday

Sunny, with a high near 77. South wind around 6 mph.

Monday Night

Mostly clear, with a low around 58. South wind 6 to 10 mph.

Tuesday

Sunny, with a high near 76. South wind 11 to 13 mph.

Tuesday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind 8 to 10 mph.

Wednesday

A 30 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. South wind 10 to 13 mph.

Wednesday Night

Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday

Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
