CANTON – Are you looking to get rid of your son or daughter’s old sports gear or want to clean out other recreational items from your garage or basement?

The Canton Recreation Department will gladly accept these items to be included in a Recreation Equipment sale slated June 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Canton Pavilion, 90 Lincoln St.

Canton Recreation Director Meghan Richardson noted the sale will feature such items as lacrosse sticks, helmets, fishing poles, kayaks and paddles, bicycles, snowshoes, snow and water skis, shin guards, cleats, basketballs, rollerblades, soccer balls and more.

The sale is sponsored by Grasse River Real Estate and admission is free.

“Items collected will be sorted, organized and priced prior to the sale,” said Richardson. “All proceeds will directly support the Canton Recreation Department.”

From now until June 4, items can be left outside the double garage doors at the pavilion. Items that need protection from the weather should be bagged.

Two drop off sites are scheduled for Wednesday, May 24 - from 4 to 7 p.m. at 3 West Front St., Rensselaer Falls; and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ike Noble Fields (truck will be at the fields during the start of Pee Wee Baseball.)

On June 3, people may drop off items at the same two locations - 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ike Noble Fields; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Rensselaer Falls.

Richardson noted that if items are too large to fit in your car, call the recreation office at (315) 386-3992 by June 4 to make arrangements for pickup.
