Brad S. Barlow, 34, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. in French Hall after state police responded to a report of menacing.
He was charged with second degree strangulation, a felony, second degree menacing with a weapon, second degree harassment-physical contact, and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, police said.
SUNY Canton spokesman Gerg Kie says that Barlow was arrested at the college, but that the alleged incident occurred elsewhere.
