April 22 petition deadline for St. Lawrence County school board candidates looms
The deadline for St. Lawrence County residents to file petitions to run for a seat on a school board is April 22, less than two weeks away.
For those interested in school board service or just want to learn more about the function of school boards in their communities, the New York State School Boards Association is providing a free online resource entitled "The School Board Member Experience."
The website provides information about school board elections, answers to common questions about running for a school board, as well we resources to help newly elected board members navigate through their first year in office.
"The School Board Member Experience website shows potential candidates what it takes to serve on a school board and explains the important role they will play, if elected," said NYSSBA Executive Director Timothy G. Kremer. "The website is a one-stop shop for information regarding eligibility, deadlines, nominating petitions, board meeting protocols, basic roles and responsibilities and much more."
