The Development Authority of the North Country is sending $60,000 in rebates to St. Lawrence County.
Rebates for recyclable materials are being sent to DANC’s three partner counties -- St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis.
DANC operates a landfill in Rodman, in Jefferson County, that takes waste from all three counties.
The rebates to Jefferson County total $80,000; Lewis County is receiving $35,000.
Over the past year, the Authority and the Counties have standardized acceptable recycles, cooperated in the development of a regional comprehensive materials management plan, invested in shared services, hosted regional household hazardous waste days, and coordinated a regional implementation of the new electronic waste collection law.
