In just a few hours, Clarkson University Women’s co-Head Hockey Coach Shannon Desrosiers will compete at the Ford Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

An emerging standout in Ironman events, Desrosiers qualified for the event with an exceptional showing at the Subaru Ironman Canada race on August 29 in Penticton, British Columbia.

She was the top amateur female competitor and ninth female overall to finish the grueling event in less than 10 hours, placing 95th overall among 2,731 participants with a time of 9:59:44 (2.4 mile-swim 1:01:37, 112 mile-bike 5:32:11, 26.2 mile-run 3:19:47).

Desrosiers, one of only 71 competitors at the Ironman Canada event to qualify for the World Championships, has qualified for the main event the last three years, but this will be Desrosiers’ first time competing in the Hawaii event, which takes place on October 9.
