MASSENA — A Massena man has been charged with murdering his father last week.
Robert I. Carr, 38, was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and tampering with evidence following the murder of his father, Robert W. Carr, 66, on Nov. 22.
Court documents say Carr used a knife in the assault that led to his father’s death.
Carr is alleged to have also tampered with blood evidence, documents state.
Massena Police responded to a call at 6:46 a.m. on Nov. 22 for a man who was unresponsive by the curb of 9 Tracy St.
At the time, Chief of Police Jason Olson said the death was being investigated as suspicious before saying later that day that the death was being investigated as a homicide.
According to Olson and a press release that day there was no threat to the public.
Massena Police, State Police investigators and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene to assist with the investigation, according to a press release.
No further details are available at this time as it is an ongoing investigation.
