MORRISTOWN – State police charged St. Lawrence County Coroner Russell B. Lawrence, 61, Morristown, with driving while intoxicated at 10 p.m. Sunday after responding to a one-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Morris and High streets in the village of Morristown

According to state police, Lawrence was traveling north on High Street in a 2007 Ford when he failed to stop at a stop sign.

He crossed over Morris Street going off the north shoulder, striking a utility pole, severing the pole.

Patrols issued Lawrence tickets for DWI, failure to stop at a stop sign, and refusal to submit to take a breath test.

He was released to a third party and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Morristown court on Feb. 24.
