CANTON -- The next meeting of Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Poultry Discussion Group is at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Extension Learning Farm on Rt. 68.
The topic this month is production practices.
Corey Hayes of Jefferson County Cooperative Extension will talk on the basics of chicken production including breeds, brooding, feeding, and raising layers and meat birds.
A discussion of different styles of raising birds will follow.
The poultry discussion group was started to provide a place for local poultry producers to share ideas and work together on marketing.
The aim is to provide more local eggs and chickens for consumers.
The meetings are free and everyone is welcome.
Those who wish to attend are asked to register ahead if you can with Betsy Hodge at 379-9192.
