Cold front blowing into North Country Friday night

Posted

The pleasing respite we have had from normal February temperatures will last another day, into Friday, the National Weather Service reports, before a cold front sweeps in on gusty winds Friday night to remind us that it's not spring yet.

Rain will fall tonight with temperatures in the 40s, but it could freeze in some of the normally cooler spots, NWS warns. Fog is predicted to persist overnight, with rain continuing Friday and temperatures perhaps passing 50 degrees. Winds will pick up to 15 to 20 mph, from the southwest.

Friday night, precipitation could continue, changing from rain to snow as temperatures drop to about 22 with a stiff westerly breeze sometimes gusting to 40 mph or higher.

On Saturday, highs are expected to reach about 25 degrees with a 40 percent chance of snow and partly sunny skies, the Weather Service predicts. A west wind will reach about 20 mph.

Saturday night under partly cloudy skies, the thermometer will drop to the single digits.

Sunday, there is a chance of light snow with highs near 28 and nighttime lows near 10 degrees.

The sky on Monday is predicted to be mostly cloudy with the chance of snow showers put at 40 percent, high temp around 18.
