POTSDAM – The Cindy Talcott Memorial Golf Tournament raised more than $30,000 for Helping Hands this year.

The tournament was held Saturday, July 16, at The Potsdam Town and Country Club.

"Tournament Chairperson Tom Butcher and the golf tournament committee worked hard to make this year's tournament an overwhelming success," said Helping Hands Executive Director Tom Chappell.

Casella Waste Management stepped up as Premier sponsors with a gift of $5,000 in appreciation of the service of Skip Bisnett, retiring manager of the West Parishville Casella West Management operation.

At the tournament, Amy Murphy of Potsdam was recognized as The Barry Scholz Volunteer of the Year for her many years of helping young people with music, sports and arts scholarships through the Helping Hands Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyetter Memorial Youth Scholarship.

“Many thanks to all who sponsored, played golf and volunteered for this year's tournament. Your efforts will allow Helping Hands to help many more people with food, heat, utilities, housewares, appliances, furniture and the many other necessities people need to survive in these times of unprecedented inflation," said Chappell.
