CANTON -- Assistant District Attorney Sara Charpentier is St. Lawrence County's new chief assistant district attorney.

Former chief ADA Jason Marx resigned his position last week. For more, see story here.

A St. Lawrence County native, Charpentier was sworn into the Massachusetts State Bar in 2005, and has since dedicated nearly all of her legal profession to the practice of criminal law.

She returned to the North Country in 2013 to begin her career as a prosecutor for the St. Lawrence District Attorney's Office.

During that time she has spent multiple years working with the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, and worked closely with me in multiple confidential cases, as well as the large-scale drug investigation known as "Operation Drop", obtaining an indictment of over forty defendants, DA Gary Pasqua said.

Attorney Charpentier has also assisted SUNY Canton as an adjunct professor, teaching criminal law and criminal procedure, in addition to periodically assisting with training at the David E. Sullivan Law Enforcement Academy.

"Attorney Charpentier has earned this leadership position through her hard work and dedication to my Office. She has been, and will continue to be, a valuable asset in our continuing fight for justice for the people of St. Lawrence County." Pasqua said.
