CANTON – With the addition of Randy Brown to the Canton Town Board, Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley recommended revised board committee assignments at Wednesday night’s, March 8, monthly board meeting.

“The purpose and role of Town Board committees is advisory only to provide support to departments, facilitate communication between departments and town board, and bring recommended items to the full board for consideration,” prefaced Ashley. 

Committee reports are made at each monthly board meeting.

The updated board committees are as follows (T/V indicates joint town and village committees): 

• Audit: Robert Santamoor and James Smith on odd months; John Taillon and Randy Brown on even months. 

• Broadband: Taillon 

• Municipal Building: Ashley and Taillon 

• Code/Planning/Solar: Smith and Santamoor 

• Economic Development: Santamoor and Brown (T/V) 

• Highway: Smith and Taillon 

• Insurance: Ashley and Santamoor 

• Justice: Ashley and Taillon 

• Negotiations: As needed 

• Policy: Ashley and Santamoor 

• Recreation: Brown and Taillon (T/V) 

• Shared Services: Ashley and Brown (T/V) 

• Sustainability (liaison): Santamoor (T/V) 

• Technology/Communications: Taillon and Brown (T/V) 

• Trails/Complete Streets (liaison): Brown (T/V) 

• Waterfront Advisory (liaison): Santamoor (T/V)
