POTSDAM – Canton-Potsdam Hospital has issued an "all-clear" for the Code Green environmental emergency it experienced this morning.

The hospital has notified County EMS that its Emergency Department is no longer diverting patients to other facilities.

Patients who had scheduled appointments for outpatient procedures will be seen and the 34 patients who were evacuated to a safe location are being returned to the inpatient units of the Hospital.

C-PH, fire, and gas company officials are still investigating the cause of the apparent gas leak this morning.

According to hospital spokesperson Rebecca Faber, the hospital wishes to extend its appreciation to County EMS, Fire, and Police personnel for their quick response to this emergency and wishes to extend its thanks to staff, patients, and families for their calm, efficient, and safe handling of this morning's events.

POTSDAM -- Canton-Potsdam Hospital is experiencing a suspected gas leak and fire personnel are on the scene.

All patients are acounted for. No one is being permitted to enter until the situation is resolved.

The gas company has shut off the gas and the Potsdam Fire Chief has determined there is no danger to patients, employees, or neighbors at this time. They are continuing to investigate.

Neighbors have been notified through a door-to-door campaign.

The hospital says fire personnel are on scene and all precautions are in place to deal with the environmental emergency, what they call a "Code Green."

For the time being, the hospital says, all ambulances that would normally go to C-PH are being diverted elsewhere.
