STOCKHOLM — A Canton man was involved in a hit and run accident on Nov. 27, state police say.
State police responded to a report of an unoccupied vehicle off the road at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Rd. and Stockholm Knapp Station Rd., on Nov. 27, police say.
The vehicle, owned by Edward R. Planty, 66, of Canton, had struck a tree, police say.
Troopers requested a tow truck to remove the vehicle, during which time Planty returned to the scene, according to police.
Planty was unable to stop for a stop sign at the intersection due to icy road conditions and his vehicle slid off the road and struck the tree, police say.
Planty was issued three traffic citations returnable to Stockholm town court on Jan. 5.
