OSWEGATCHIE — State police arrested two St. Lawrence County residents on drug charges following a traffic stop Sunday afternoon on State Highway 37.
Troopers said they stopped a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche shortly before 5 p.m. The operator, 31-year-old Quinton J. Lancto, Gouverneur, and passenger 28-year-old Amber L. Gilmore, Canton, were arrested after they were found in possession of heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Lancto was also found to be driving while under the influence of drugs, troopers said. He was charged with DWAI-drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, officers said.
Gilmore was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Both subjects were released on tickets returnable in Oswegatchie Town Court at a later date and time.
